Aikido is a traditional Japanese martial art combining open-hand and weapons techniques together with the principles and practice of awase (connection) and kokyu (abdominal breath power). It was developed by Morihei Ueshiba as a synthesis of its martial arts studies, philosophy and religious beliefs.
The term AIKIDO is the union of three japanese kanjii: " Ai " (Harmoni), Ki " (Spirit), " DO " (The Way or Pat).

Takemusu Aikido Torino, founded in 1999 by GIOVANNI GERBI (V Dan Iwama Shin Shin Aikido) and STEFANO DI CARLO (IV Dan Iwama Shin Shin Aikido), is a branch of IWAMA SHINSHIN AIKI SHURENKAI JAPAN, headed by Saito Hitohiro Soke son of the late Saito Morihiro Sensei and technical heir to the Founder's personal dojo located in the small town of Iwama, Ibaraki-prefecture, Japan. |
